The industry
The fashion industry is accountable for about 10% of the yearly global carbon emissions
In Europe the textile consumption has increased with 40% since 1996 per person
Less than 1% of textiles are being recycled, most of it end up in landfills
16-35% of the global micro plastics in the oceans come from textiles, that is 200 000 to 500 000 tonnes of micro plastics
For most clothes, more than 70% of the carbon emissions and water use happens during the production
There are at least 40 million garment workers world wide not always getting their minimum wage and even if they do, it might not be enough as a living wage

How I can help
Educate about the social and environmental costs of the fashion industry
Inspire and create roadmap for a more sustainable closet
Assist fashion brands and stores that want to improve its sustainability work
checklist when creating a more sustainable closet
Identify what you like to wear in your closet and why
Identify needs based on your daily life
Clean out your closet and organise based on how you use your clothes
Sell, donate, rent out or circulate to your friends what you don’t use
Make a list of clothes needed to increase the use of the clothes you already have
Check out the second hand market spontaneously and be patient with the time it takes to find your perfect match
When in rapid need and you can’t find it on second hand, go for small-scale ethical brands being transparent about their supply chain and using more sustainable materials
